Nokia just announced the new C3-01 Gold Edition, which is based on the original C3-01 Touch and Type but with a twist. The twist in this case is the luxurious 18-carat gold plating, the speedier 1GHz processor, the ceramic-feel keyboard and a matching gold theme. The device is exclusively made to cater to Eastern Europe and the Middle East and has already started shipping in selected markets. It will cost around €220 before taxes and operator subsidies.
This could be a reincarnation of the C3-01.5 phone that was leaked last month with a 1GHz processor. We may even see a gold-less C3-01 with the updated processor hit other markets as well.
The Series 40-based device is a quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100 phone. There's a 2.4-inch QVGA resistive touchscreen, 1GHz processor, HSDPA up to 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA up to 2 Mbps, WLAN b/g/n standards, 5 MP fixed-focus snapper on the back with LED flash and a MicroSD card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage.
The C3-01 Gold Edition has retained its previous measures - 111 x 47.5 x 11mm and weighs the same 100g as the original C3-01.
There's no official word if the Nokia C3-01 Gold Edition will hit markets outside of Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Here's the product page Nokia has put up for the device.
